Civil Rights

According to a report by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), Michigan had the 6th highest number of hate incidents in the 10 days following the November 8, 2017 election. The Southern Poverty Law Center has identified 28 hate groups currently active in the State of Michigan. Hate crimes are directed against African Americans, Muslims, LGBT, and women.

W2WTC supports the rights of all people regardless of race, sex, age, disability, national origin, and religion, to participate fully in society and protected under the law. We support candidates who will fight to retain and strengthen these rights and demonstrate leadership in speaking out against discrimination and hate crimes.

Call to Action: Across the nation, people's rights are being violated. You can be part of the solution and protect our civil liberties by joining the American Civil Liberties Union. Locally, you can support the Traverse City Human Rights Commission to order to insure human dignity and discourage discriminatory practice through understanding and respect among all groups.
